It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Saltarelli on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. For the past two years, Maria fought an extraordinarily courageous battle against cancer, finally succumbing to her illness at age 52. Beloved daughter of Liberato “Albert” and Grazia “Grace” Saltarelli, and dear sister of Daniele (Susie) Saltarelli. Maria was cherished by her loving nephews Roman and Luca, niece Louisa, and friends, especially Janet Stanclik. Maria leaves behind uncles Ennio (Filomena) and Rosario (Linda) Sergnese, uncles Peter Saltarelli, and Dino (Lily) Sicoli, aunt Mary Saltarelli, and several cousins on both sides of the family. Maria was active in parish life at both Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Thorold, and the St. Catharines Cathedral where she was also choir member.
Maria’s story is one of determination, perseverance, and unwavering faith in Christ. She will remain forever in our hearts. Relatives and friends will be received at BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME, 2 Regent Street Thorold on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM and from 7:00 –9:00 PM. Vigil prayers will be recited at 3:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church 21 Queen Street South, Thorold on Saturday at 9:30 AM. Rite of Committal at Lakeview Cemetery. Those who wish, may make donations in Maria’s memory to the Holy Rosary Building Fund or the Cathedral Of St. Catharine Alexandria Restoration Fund.
