MONRO, William (Bill) Horton

Bill was born on February 24, 1928 in Niagara Falls, ON. He received his Ontario Teacher’s Certificate from Ontario Teacher’s College and later his Bachelor of Science with Honors in the Department of Geology at McMaster University in Hamilton, ON. Bill was a member of Nature Calgary, Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists, Colour Photographic Association of Canada, and he volunteered with Canadian Wildlife Service and Breeding Bird Survey. Bill’s career was as a Exploration Geologist at Mobil Oil. His passions included travel, photography, and music appreciation. He was especially fond of bluegrass and classical music and was an accomplished guitarist. Bill enjoyed nature in general, hiking, birdwatching, and wildlife.

Bill is survived by his sister Mary Melissa Book of Peterborough, ON; and his nieces and nephews, William Barry Book (Julie Elizabeth Linton), Debra Ann Ward (Alan James Ward), and Catherine Melissa Cremers (Edward Hermanos Cremers). He was predeceased by his parents, Mary Wilda Monro (nee Brown) and Hugh Thomas Monro; and his brother-in-law George Barry Book.Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Bill’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
