Born in Castropignano, Italy on August 11th, 1933 she immigrated to Thorold, Ontario in 1950 with her beloved parents the late Domenico and Antoinetta Maddalena and her sisters. She was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and sang with the Italian Choir for 43 years. She also was a member of the Italian Catholic Association. Our good Lord took his faithful servant Maria home on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at the Niagara Health System – St. Catharines site. Beloved wife of Clemente Conte for 66 years. Dear mother of Bernice (the late Gino Giancola) and Tony Conte. Loving Nonetta to Michael and Maria-Christina Giancola (Brendan Stuart-Hagge). Sister of Filomena (the late Assuntino Bozza), Grace, Giuseppina and the late Nancy (Wallace Gordon), the late Joanne (Gino Marchionda), and the late Lucy Scobie. Zia Maria will be dearly missed by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and Godchildren. A special thank you to Dr. Blewett and the entire staff on Unit 5A at the St Catharines site of the Niagara Health System for their excellent care and compassion. Friends will be received at the BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME, 2 Regent Street, Thorold, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Saturday and 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Sunday, with Vigil Prayers recited at 3:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE HOLY ROSARY CHURCH, 21 Queen Street South, Thorold, on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Rite of committal at Lakeview Cemetery. Memorial donations to the N.H.S. Foundation or to the Walker Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.
