BOSEGLAV, CLAUDIO - Peacefully, having struggled for 27 years with Parkinson’s, Claudio passed away on March 1, 2024, at his home in St. Catharines, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Atena (nee Fiumani) for 67 years. Claudio leaves his children, Fulvio and Marina (Robert) Felser, his grandchildren, Adam (Rebecca) Hawman, Melody Hawman (Daniel Shakhmundes) and great-grandchildren, Abraxas Shakhmundes and Abbigael Hawman. He is also survived by his sisters, Norma (Dennis 2017) Murphy and Ornella Boseglav; brother-in-law, Mauro (Gisella) Fiumani; nephews, Igor Grcko, John Murphy; nieces Tara Murphy (1988) and Elena Fiumani; and a goddaughter from Cuba, Lisandra Cuellar Amable.

Claudio was born in Fiume, Italy (now Rijeka, Croatia) on June 16, 1936, to Dolores (nee Vio) and Antonio Boseglav. In 1968 he immigrated with his wife and children to Canada and has lived in St. Catharines ever since. Claudio worked for many years as an electrical technician at DSBN where he made many friends and retired in 1996. He was interested in technology and kept up with all the latest gadgets and also liked doing jigsaw puzzles, making wine and propagating African violets. He had an extensive nutcracker collection. Claudio enjoyed his many yearly vacations to Cuba with Atena where they made some long-time friends. At home, family would visit often and the grandchildren loved staying over and going on outings with their Nonno and Nonna.

Also, a special thank you to all the PSWs and nurses who provided care to Claudio, especially Eric from Care Partners and Abdul from ParaMed for their excellent care and friendship. Thank you also to Father Brian Bevan for holding a private family service at Claudio’s bedside.
