Canadian teen Langevin finishes career-best second in slopestyle World Cup

FONT ROMEU, France — Canada's Philippe Langevin earned his first career podium finish on the freestyle ski World Cup circuit, earning second place in the slopestyle competition on Saturday.

The 17-year-old from Mont-Tremblant, Que., skied to a score of 90.27 in his second run of the final. Alexander Hall of the United States won the event with 92.11 points and Switzerland's Andri Ragettli was third with 89.06.

Langevin scored 87.63 points in his first run.

His previous best career result in eight slopestyle events had been a 10th-place finish on Nov. 23 in Stubai, Austria.

"I can't believe it, it's insane," said Langevin, who's competing in his second season on the World Cup tour. "I wasn't expecting this to come so fast, so I'm super stoked.

"I felt really good out there, I was able to do what I had set out to do, so that's a good sign for upcoming races. The key now will be to recreate that as often as possible and to be as consistent as possible."

Max Moffatt of Caledon, Ont., finished a personal-best sixth with 81.12 points. It was the 20-year-old's second career top-10 finish in slopestyle. He also finished sixth in a big air competition last March in Quebec City.

On the women's side, Megan Oldham of Parry Sound, Ont., was ninth in an event won by Switzerland's Sarah Hoefflin.
