Canada beats Ecuador 79-33 at FIBA U16 Americas women's championship

AYSEN, Chile — Isaline Alexander had eight points and 10 rebounds as Canada defeated Ecuador 79-33 on Sunday to open the FIBA U16 Americas women's championship.

Leah Stupar had a team-high of 11 points and seven rebounds and Avianna Thompson recorded 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Blanca Quinonez lead Ecuador with 12 points.

The top-four teams in the tournament will qualify for the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2020.

Canada is in Group B along with Ecuador, Brazil and Puerto Rico. The Canadians face Brazil on Monday.
