The Thorold Anchors senior men’s ball team will host an Ontario Baseball Championship (OBA) tournament on Labour Day weekend, with 12 teams competing.

The tournament will feature a double knockout format beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday Aug. 30, at McMillan Park and will run through to Sunday.

The Anchors will kick things off against the Simcoe Giants, who were finalists last year. In that tournament Thorold lost a heartbreaker to Simcoe by a 5-4 score.

This year's event will include teams from Essex, Mitchell, Wyoming, Hanover, Courtright, St. Catharines, Port Hope, and Simcoe.

Thorold Protection Hose volunteer firefighters will be stationed at the beer garden.

As in regular season games, the Anchors will be accepting food donations for Community Care and a draw prize will be a gift certificate from Crackers Jacks’ Bar and Grill.
