The Thorold Tim Horton's Blackhawks Novice LL team jumped out to a 1-0 series lead in the District A finals. Thorold faced off against Welland 1 in the District finals in Welland on Monday night. Both teams came out ready to play with Welland jumping out to an early 1-0 lead.
Welland looked sharp early but Thorold's goalie Kayden Alguire was stellar and kept this game tight. Blackhawk Adam Santos broke loose in the second period and scored to tie the game 1-1.
With this game looking like it was headed to overtime, Thorold's Jack Curzon fouind the back of the net to put the Hawks up 2-1 with :59 left in the game. Thorold held on for the win and will head home for game two.
Next game is Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Thorold. Fans are urged to come out and show these kids some support.
