Freshman forward Christian DiFelice (Thorold, Ontario/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) of Plattsburgh State has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men’s Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week for the period ending Dec. 2, 2018, as announced Monday by the conference office.

This marks the first-ever SUNYAC Rookie of the Week honour for DiFelice.

DiFelice recorded three points on a goal and two assists while posting a +4 rating in a 1-1-0 week for the Cardinals. He scored his first collegiate goal and added two assists in a 7-0 win over Buffalo State on Friday before putting a shot on frame in a 3-2 loss to Fredonia on Saturday.

For the season, DiFelice has five points on a goal and four assists.

Christian is the son of Ron and Mena DiFelice.

THE STATS:
Plattsburgh State (4-4-1, 4-2-1 SUNYAC) returns to action on Friday, Dec. 7, when it visits SUNY Cortland for a 7 p.m. contest. Before Plattsburgh State: Competed for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres of the OJHL during the 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons… Tallied 95 career points with the Buffalo Jr. Sabres on 23 goals and 72 assists… Spent the 2014-15 season on the Trenton Golden Hawks of the OJHL, recording 27 points on 11 goals and 16 assists, after suiting up for the Thorold Blackhawks of the GHOJHL in 2013-14… Played two years of hockey at Denis Morris Catholic High School.
