Thorold Bantams take semi-final opener

Thorold Impact Promotions Blackhawks and the Caledonia Thunder started their OMHA Semi Final series on Wednesday night in Thorold.

Thorold opened the scoring in the first period on a goal by Luka Radovanovic with assists going to Jack Hale and Alex Meffe. Thorold would add to the lead when Kyle Pendergast made a perfect pass from just inside the Thorold blueline to a waiting Hale at the Caledonia blueline sending him in for a breakaway where he put the puck just over the Caledonia goaltenders glove. Ethan Bolibruck also picked up an assist.

Thorold  scored early in the third period on a nice shot by Radovanovic for his second goal of the game assisted by Curtis Isherwood. Thorold got into some penalty trouble and Caledonia would take advantage of this scoring with a two-man advantage by Adam Fitzhenry. Just over a minute later Trent Chute added another power play goal to cut Thorold's lead to 3-2. With just over two minutes to go, Isherwood added the insurance goal on pass from Hale, Ogo Ogunkeye also assisted on the play. Final score Thorold 4 Caledonia 2.

The series now moves to Caledoina on Thursday at 8pm for gametwo with game 3 back in Thorold on Saturday at 4 p.m.
