Synchronized skating teams get a jump on the season

Skaters from across the region unite

Two synchronized skating teams are already gearing up for the coming competitive season.

The Matrix Synchronized skating teams, representing the Niagara Skating Centre, are based out of the new Meridian Community Centre in Fonthill.

Matrix has two teams for this season in the juvenile and adult divisions. Both teams are made up from skaters across the Niagara region. Matrix was formed and coached by head coach Katie McGarrigle.

"The girls are excited for their season to begin and look forward to building their skills in their inaugural season," said McGarrigle.

This past weekend the juvenile team took to the arena for their first annual bootcamp.  Practice sessions included both on-ice training and off-ice training, as well as team bonding exercises.
