Brock University is hosting two Ontario University Athletics championships on back-to-back weekends.

The Badgers host the OUA women’s fencing championships on Saturday, Feb. 2 and Sunday, Feb. 3, and the swimming championships from Thursday, Feb. 7 to Saturday, Feb. 9.

“Hosting the OUA fencing championships is an immense honour for us,” said Badgers fencing coach Tim Stang. “These championships bring together some of the strongest female competitors in the sport of fencing in Canada.

“For us as hosts, this is our chance to show our skill and tenacity at Badgers home field. Our women have had a long history of success at the OUA and we’re out to continue the tradition.”

The fencing competition begins Saturday, Feb. 2, running from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. in Ian Beddis Gymnasium and is divided into three disciplines of fencing: foil, epee and sabre.

On Sunday, Feb. 3, team relay begins at 9 a.m., with medals and banner awards at 5 p.m.

The No. 2-ranked University of Toronto Varsity Blues look to defend their title when more than 350 swimmers descend on the Eleanor Misener Aquatic Centre for the OUA Swimming Championships beginning on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m.

Admission is free for spectators.
