Hundreds of hockey fans flood Thorold rinks

The annual Henderson's Pharmacy hockey tournament is in full swing this weekend. The popular event enjoys full draws in every division.

The Peewee local league Newman Electric team was perfect this afternoon, scoring a 3-0 win over Lambeth.

Wesley Dionne opened the scoring for Thorold in the first period with an assist from Cole Kelly.

There was no scoring in the second period, but in the third, Thorold sealed the deal with back-to-back goals from Jaxxon Long and Kelly.

Both goals ended with crowd-pleasing moves from the goal scorers as Long stretched out across the crease and out-reached the Lambeth goaltender. Then Kelly was dumped into the goalie but he kept his eye on the puck and swept it into the goal while lying flat on the ice.

Blake Sider and Hayden Ferguson picked up assists on the Long goal while Ferguson and Michael Mongelluzzo added assists to the Kelly goal.

Matthew Sorley was perfect in the Newman Electric goal picking up the shutout win.

Henderson's Pharmacy tournament action continues tomorrow in both Thorold arenas.
