Hawks win season opener

The Thorold Jr. B Blackhawks returned to the ice last night for the 2019-20 season and sent their fans home celebrating a 4-1 win.

Thorold scored all four goals in the second period after the visiting Pelham Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the first period.

Scoring for Thorold were Thomas Lonsdale, Nick Gidney and Trevor Neumann with two. Cam Lightfoot notched a pair of assists for Thorold.

Pelham outshot Thorold by a 33-22 margin but Noah Fortuna stopped 32 of them to give Thorold the win.

Neumann was the first star while Dylan Scriver and Fortuna were named second and third stars, respectively.

Thorold home games are at the Frank Doherty Arena in Thorold on Thursday nights at 7 p.m.
