Hawks shut out Panthers

Second straight win forces game six in Thorold tonight

The Thorold Jr. B Blackhawks are coming home for game six after staving off elimination by beating the Pelham Panthers 3-0  last night in Pelham.

Noah Fortuna was outstanding in the Thorold goal blocking 40 shots to get the shut out and earning the first star spot. He was especially busy in the second period stopping a barrage of 20 shots. Thorold directed 36 shots at Pelham goalie Brandon McCorriston who had starred in the first three games spotting Pelham to a three games to none lead.

Thorold took a 1-0  late in the first period on a goal by Trevor Neumann. He scored again early in the second and Thorold got their third goal midway through that frame on a power play effort from  Cam Lightfoot.

Dylan Latty and Evan Miller assisted on the first Neumann goal. Miller and Jonathan Balah earned assists on the second goal and Nicholas Rubino and Balah added asses to the Lightfoot goal.

The series now sits at 3-2  for Pelham in the best of seven series.

Game six is scheduled in Thorold tonight at 8 p.m.
