Evan Miller leads the way with four points

It was all Thorold last night at the Frank Doherty arena as the Jr. B Blackhawks trounced the visiting Welland team by a 7-1 score.

Evan Miller scored in each period, and added an assist to lead the home town Hawks.

The first period ended in a 2-0 lead for the Hawks on goals by Miller and Trevor Neumann.

In the second period Thorold added three more goals and Welland notched their only goal of the night.

Scoring for Thorold were Sam VanderZalm, Miller and Nicholas Rubino. Devon Thibodeau picked up three assists on the night.

Jason Horvart scored on the power play for Welland.

In the final frame Miller completed his hat trick and Jonah Devereux scored Thorold’s final goal midway through the period.

Noah Fortuna got the win in the Thorold goal stopping 34 of 35 shots.

Star selections for the game were also all Thorold. Miller was named first star while Neumann and Thibodeau were named second and third star respectively. 

The Hawks chased Welland goaltender Carter Kurcz from the game after the second period. He had allowed 5 goals on 20 shots. Alex Vendette replaced him in the third period and stopped 15 of 17 shots.
