Hawks blank Meteors

Five different scorers and perfect defense combine for the win.

The Thorold Jr. B Blackhawks are looking solid since the Christmas break.

Last night they shut down the visiting Fort Erie Meteors by  a 5-0 score.

Goalie Chase Grsic stopped 27 shots to give the Hawks the shut out win. Thorold turned in a balanced performance and got goals from five different shooters in the game. They also hammered Fort Erie goalie Jacob Hearne with 43 shots.

The Hawks took a 2-0 into the dressing room after one frame. Trevor Neumann and Jonah Devereux scored the goals. 

In the second period they added another by Sam VanderZalm. In the third they sealed the deal with two more, one goal by Dylan Latty and another by Nicholas Rubino. VanderzZalm also chipped in with two assists and Deverereux had one.

The three stars of the game were Grsic, VanderZalm and Mario Zitella.

Next Thursday the Hawks are home to the league-leading Niagara Falls Canucks. Game time is 7:07 p.m.
