Blackhawks drop Pelham

First home game of the new year puts one in the win column

The Thorold Junior B Blackhawks notched a goal in each period and held off the visiting Pelham Panthers by a 3-2 score.

The score was 1-1 at the end of the first frame, and 2-2 at the end of the second period but Thorold managed the only goal of the third period for the win.

Jonathan Balah scored for Thorold in the first with Jonah Devereux and Michael Craig getting the assists.

Logan Warner replied for Pelham.

In the second period Chris Webber scored on a power play to give Pelham a 2-1 lead. But Dylan Latty tied it for the Hawks with assists going to Evan Miller and Blair Jenkins.

In the third, it was Miller getting a power play goal with assists going to Latty and Nick Gidney.

Noah Fortuna got the win in the Thorold goal, making 18 saves.

The shots were also close with Pelham holding a 20-19 advantage. 

The match was penalty-filled with Pelham receiving 38 minutes in the box on 12 penalties. Thorold had 26 minutes on 9 penalties.
