Bantams settle for finalist trophy in OMHA playoffs

Submitted by Darrin Hale

Another thrilling finish punctuated the final game of the OMHA final series with the Thorold Impact Promotions Bantams hosting Napanee in a do-or-die situation.

The game ended in a 2-1 nail-biter but it wasn't the conclusion Thorold was looking for as Napanee held on to win the game and sweep the series.

Napanee opened the scoring in the first period when Owen Gibson went around the outside of the Thorold defence and slid the puck past Thorold goalie Michael Leblanc. Late in the second period Napanee went ahead 2-0 on a goal by Quinton Pierce, just as their powerplay ended.

Thorold began a comeback scoring with six minutes to go on a goal from Curtis Isherwood on a nice passing play from Jack Hale and Owen Timmins. Thorold pulled the goalie for the extra attacker to try and tie the game but couldn’t find the back of the net. Napanee won the series 3-0.
