The Thorold Anchors trailed the Rose City Thorns by a 5-1 score but a six-run inning turned things around.

Dylan Dempsey doubled in the fifth inning, driving in two runs to give Thorold a 7-5 win in men’s senior baseball last night.

Daniel Krasulja had doubled with bases loaded, driving in three runs, to tie the game before Dempsey gave Thorold the lead for good. Welland added one run in the bottom of the sixth and the teams each scored a run in the sixth inning.

Thorold hung on for an 8-7 win.

Luke Edwards got the win on the Thorold mound and Justin Vescio-West earned a save.

The best of three playoff series is now tied at one win each.

The third and final game date and time is yet to be announced.
