Yard sale brings in food, cash for Community Care

Community Care received food and cash donations from Darryl Murphy's yard sale held Saturday morning

Boxes stacked with boots, as well as toys, jewellery, and home décor sold at discounted prices Saturday morning, courtesy of Darryl Murphy’s community yard sale.

One of the sole rain-free days in weeks resulted in crowds coming to seek deals in the Richmond Street School parking lot, Murphy told ThoroldNews.

“It went really well. I’m happy with it. We had lots of people coming out to buy stuff,” he said, while handing out free hot dogs in exchange for cash donations to Community Care.

The realtor’s main purpose in organizing the event was to get to know his neighbours, he said, while collecting food for Community Care.

Following the event, he and his daughter, Cassie, brought bags of food to the Thorold branch on Albert Street.
