Hordes of bargain-hunters descended on the Beaverdams Church yard sale Saturday morning.

A plethora of plants, housewares, furniture, linens and toys drew the “best ever crowd” to the annual event, according to organizer Donna Cowan.

Despite the threat of rain, skies remained clear, and “It was the best turnout we’ve ever had,” she told Thorold News.

“It was very busy, and we sold a huge amount” of items at discounted prices, added Melanie Battell.

Proceeds raised from this year’s yard sale will help the Friends of Beaverdams Church continue in their ongoing quest to restore and renovate the iconic heritage lakeside church, built in 1832.

For their next fundraiser, the Friends have teamed up with the Port Colborne Museum for a Tour & Tea for Beaverdams event on Thursday, June 27. Tickets cost $20, and are available by calling Cowan at 905-227-7556. She will also organize car pooling to the King Street site, and anyone who needs a ride to the event can call her about transportation to and from Port Colborne.

The Tour & Tea takes place from 1:30 to 4 p.m.
