Tanja says she had her ticket for months before she checked it. "I decided to finally play my ticket and I started laughing. I called my son to come take a look and we didn't believe it. I was shocked," she shared, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect her winnings.
The retired food industry worker says her son and husband were happy about her win. "My son said, 'If anyone deserves this, it's you!’” smiled the 62-year-old.
"This win feels peaceful. I realized this would give me more money for my family and it feels good," Tanja said.
Tanja plans to share her winnings with her family. "I will give some to my kids to use as they wish and some to my husband, who will probably buy a car. I will also save for a vacation when the virus is gone," she concluded.
In accordance with government-issued lockdown measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, OLG is currently limiting the number of in-person prize claim appointments at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to only those that require a face-to-face interview. Customers with prizes over $50,000 are asked to call 1-800-387-0098 to discuss available prize claim options. Prize claims up to $49,999.90 should continue to be submitted by mail. INSTANT CASH FOR LIFE is available for $4 a play and the top prize is $1,000 a week for life. Odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.45.
The winning ticket was purchased at Starsky Fine Foods on Queenston Road in Hamilton.
