Thorold's summer music festival kicks off this evening

Battle of Beaverdams Park, downtown Thorold, Ontario, ready to rock the Canada Day Weekend

Four days of rock and roll and blues music kicks off this evening and runs through July 1 when classic rockers Vinyl Flux wrap up the musical portion and fireworks close out the festivities.

Tonight's offering includes International Blues Champion second-place finisher Harrison Kennedy from Hamilton. The former singer with Chairman of the Board has been touring the world for decades.

Then, from Motown, Detroit, Michigan, Laura Rain & the Ceasars, a powerhouse Soul, Blues, and R&B quartet, fronted by the dynamic, soul fire, Laura Rain, take the stage. Laura's appearance last year earned her an invitation back to Thorold this year.

Closing out the evening is the young and dynamic Matt Weidinger band. Matt is described as, "A passionate young songwriter, who is well-known for his mature rock/soul vocals and impressive multi-instrumental (organ, guitar) talents. Canal Bank Shuffle fans will remember him from his appearance with the astounding Mad Dogs and Englishman performance."
