Thorold waives late fees for water-sewer bills, taxes amidst COVID-19 shutdowns

The city is waiving late fees and penalties due to COVID-19. See full news release below:

The City of Thorold has implemented the waiving of late fees and penalties until June 30, 2020, to provide some relief to our residents and businesses that may be negatively impacted by the Coronavirus.

Many municipalities are working collectively on addressing concerns of our citizens and adapting to the impacts of the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Penalties, Interest and NSF Fees to be waived to June 30th as follows:

• No Penalty on Water- Sewer Bills

• No Penalty on Current Year Taxes

• Interest will continue to apply to arrears for prior years’ taxes

• No NSF fees for returned payments

• No Interest on Accounts Receivable invoices

During this period, there will be no shut off of water services for non payment.

Normal Pre Authorized Payments will proceed, however, there will be no penalty for withdrawing from the PAP program.

As posted on our website, the deadline to withdraw from the March 31st PAP was March 24th. For future PAP dates please contact City Hall at 905-227-6613.

While our municipal facilities are closed to the public, our staff continue to provide service over the phone or online at www.thorold.ca. The City is making every effort to support our residents and businesses through these unusual times.
