Alligator recording, and long-time acclaimed, blues artists Nick Moss Band featuring Dennis Gruenling will be performing in Thorold tonight.

The event is being presented as a kick-off to the 18th annual Canal Bank Shuffle Blues Festival (CBS) which begins next Thursday, October 10. The Nick Moss Band was originally scheduled to appear within the Shuffle but a European tour conflicted with the dates.

Nick Moss and Dennis Gruenling each came home with Blues Music Awards hardware in 2018 ("Best Traditional Blues Male" and "Best Instrumentalist: Harmonica", respectively). And the band was nominated for a 2018 Blues Music Award for Band of The Year.

Moss gained fame as guitarist for the legendary Jimmy Rogers before forming his own band.

Doors open at 6 p.m. with show time at 7 p.m. tonight. Tickets are $15 and will be available at the door at Holy Rosary Hall, 35 Queen St. South, Thorold.

Beef on a bun will be served by the Knights of Columbus. Tickets and programs for the CBS will also be available tonight.
