Just before 5 P.M on Friday, Thorold got hit with a quick snowfall that lasted around 20 minutes.
Thick snowflakes fell from the sky as afternoon commuters made their way out of the downtown area, currently undergoing construction.
The somewhat unusual spring weather did not take meteorologists by surprise as forecasts predicted a good chance of rain or flurries for Friday.
Other places in Ontario report similar weather with some hit harder than others.
In Sudbury, eight centimetres of snow fell on Thursday, continuing into Friday.
However, It is not the first time that Niagra experiences May snow.
According to historical weather data from St Catharines weather station, a snowfall of 7 cm was recorded on May 7, 1989.

For those not particularly keen on breaking out the hat and scarf, there could be bad news in store as forecasts have flurries and rain in store for Saturday too.
However, it may not be the time to plan going obogganing as Sunday and the start of next week has slightly more seasonal weather, with periods sporting a mix of sun and cloud.
