TCAG gets their groove back

Child care classes, yoga and fitness classes are all enjoying a new audio system at the TCAG. The sound equipment was made possible through a $500 grant from the Niagara Community Foundation.

Young dancers spent their PA day Friday practicing their freestyle dance moves at the Thorold Community Activities Group, swaying to the sounds of a brand new audio system.

The TCAG received a $500 grant for the portable system, courtesy of the Niagara Community Foundation.

Their existing unit wasn’t working properly, and was in dire need of replacement, said TCAG executive director Dan Pelletier.

“Having good audio equipment to play music is one of the most important tools we have. All the yoga and fitness classes—and kids in child care—use it for music” and depend on it daily, he added.

The impromptu Friday dance session was led by two Brock University child care teachers, Alex Ritchie and Shannon Arnold, who told ThoroldNews, “The kids love it” when they get to groove to tunes in the TCAG gym. It’s also a great form of exercise, said the teachers. “We use it several days a week.”

The system will also be made available to the Canal Bank Shuffle committee members during their year-round events, since the TCAG has partnered with the Shuffle for the past several years in hosting Thorold concerts.
