TORONTO – Sonya Olecka of Stevensville won “Ontario’s jackpot” – $250,000 in the December 12, 2020 LOTTARIO draw.

Sonya, a 60-year-old cook and mother of one said she mostly plays LOTTARIO and LOTTO 6/49. “This is my first big win!” she shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her winnings. “I scanned it in the store then called my son so he could scan it and make sure it was real! It’s quite unexpected when you see all those zeros!”

Sonya said this win couldn’t have come at a better time because of the pandemic. “I’m going to pay some bills and fix my roof,” she concluded.

In accordance with government-issued lockdown measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, OLG is currently limiting the number of in-person prize claim appointments at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to only those that require a face-to-face interview. Customers with prizes over $50,000 are asked to call 1-800-387-0098 to discuss available prize claim options. Prize claims up to $49,999.90 should continue to be submitted by mail. The health and safety of our customers and employees remains our top priority and OLG looks forward to providing future updates on the availability of in-person prize claims.

LOTTARIO launched in 1978 as Ontario’s first terminal lotto game. Tickets are $1 and the draws take place every Saturday. Tickets purchased before 10:30 p.m. on Fridays are eligible for the Early Bird draw. Visit the LOTTARIO page on OLG.ca for more information.
