It was a big hit for Zef and Lula Gaci of St. Catharines when they matched 12 of 12 winning numbers to win $250,000 with Hit or Miss (July 28, 2020, Draw #205100).

Married parents to two sons, Zef and Lula discovered their win when they checked their ticket using the OLG Lottery App. “After I checked it, I gave the ticket to my wife and told her to check – as a surprise,” shared Zef, a 54-year-old retail cleaner, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their cheque. “I was so excited, I was shaking, and I wanted her to have the same experience!”

Later Lula, a 51-year-old housekeeper, brought their ticket to a retailer and handed to ticket to the cashier. “The terminal froze and the cashier asked me if I knew how much I had won,” Lula smiled. “When he told me it was $250,000 I started to cry because I was so shocked and excited!”

The couple hasn’t told anyone about their win yet. “My sons will find out when they see my smiling face in the newspaper,” Zef laughed.

Zef has big dreams of winning millions and plans to spend some of his winnings chasing that dream. “The exhilaration of playing the lottery has become our favourite form of entertainment,” Zef concluded.

The OLG Prize Centre in Toronto is now accepting in-person prize claim appointments for winning-ticket holders of $10,000 or more. Appointments for prizes of this value will be granted if requested, however, prizes up to $49,999.90 do not have to be claimed in-person and customers are encouraged to continue to mail in these claims when possible.

To best protect customers and staff, OLG has put in place appropriate health and safety protocols in accordance with guidelines from public health officials, which include physical distancing measures, the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the pre-screening of visitors before granting entry. Future announcements will be made as to when OLG will open appointments to anyone wishing to claim their prize in-person at the Prize Centre.

Hit or Miss is an exciting lottery game where players can win a top prize of $250,000 by matching all or none of the numbers drawn. Players can watch the draws on the OLG Lottery App or on OLG.ca. Hit or Miss is $2 per play and is only available at OLG retail locations. Visit the Hit or Miss page on OLG.ca for more information.

The winning ticket was purchased at Shop Express on Fourth Avenue in St. Catharines.
