Songs of the City returns to Niagara

United Way annual event returns, showcasing three compelling true stories matched with Canadian musicians

UNITED WAY
PRESS RELEASE

Songs of the City is returning to Niagara on May 1. It is a night of story and song, joining three individuals with compelling stories to tell, with Canadian musicians, who will perform original musical interpretations. Last year's event was so popular it sold out in days and this year went even faster.

The purpose of Songs of the City is to celebrate success and triumph over hardships and thank United Way donors for their support. It is a moving and fabulous evening which truly shows the impact of gifts made to United Way by allowing real people with real stories, to tell them.

The performance will feature artists Matt Dusk, Dione Taylor, Tom Wilson, and St. Catharines' own James Bryan. Each artist is paired with one person to tell their story through song. You will hear how one woman gained the strength to leave an abusive relationship with her daughter; how one man overcame homelessness and depression; and another family who fled their home country after gang violence put their lives in danger. All speakers have one thing in common; United Way programs have helped them.

Join us on May 1, 2019, at 7 p.m. to see the magic yourself.
