TCAG Summer Camp approaching

Thorold Community Activities Group's annual Summer Camp will soon be in session, featuring daily swimming, weekly themes, trips and extended care hours at no extra charge

With warmer weather, come thoughts of camping. And the Thorold Community Activities Group is ready.

Kicking off July 2 and running through to Aug. 30, this year’s TCAG summer camp sessions include nine weekly themes: Wacky and Wonderful, Make a Splash, Island Explorer, Goin’ Green, Animal Planet, Around the World, We are Family, Time Travellers, and Tropical Paradise. Each week also includes a Wednesday trip, to local attractions such as Heartland Forest, Safari Niagara, and Bissell’s Hideaway.

Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and extended care is available at no extra cost, from 7:30 to 9 a.m, and from 4:30 to 5:30 pm.

As always, daily swimming is included in the camp sessions.

“TCAG Summer Camp counsellors are dedicated to helping promote physical activity to help your child gain valuable knowledge about staying active for life,” said Director of Recreation and Leisure Jennifer Douthwaite.

“They will help develop your child’s social skills and decrease the amount of screen time your child will spend throughout the summer. Our camp offers nine fun themed weeks full of games, activities and more for children ages five to 10 years. With weekly trips and daily swims there is something for everyone. It's a fun-filled summer of making friends for life.”

“For the hard-core campers,” she continued, “we also have seven weeks of different specialty camps,” which run from July 2 to Aug. 23, and feature themes such as Givin’ Gardeners, Artists in Motion, and Top Chef. Each week also includes a Fun Friday theme, like Crazy Hair Day and Earth Day.

Regular Camp fees are $155 per week for TCAG members, $175 per week for non-members, and $40 per day (a minimum of three days per week are required). Trip Day costs $62, Specialty Camp costs $175 per week for members, and $195 per week for non-members, for children aged five to 10 years.
