Making Waves on Front Street

Thorold has a new skin care, hair removal and eyelash salon downtown.

There’s a new beauty salon in town, and it’s beginning to make a ripple.

Called Making Waves Beauty, the shop’s grand opening was hosted by owner Marysa Reid last Thursday night.

Formerly from St. Catharines, Reid has made her home in Thorold for a couple years, and said she was eager to move her business to downtown Thorold.

“I used to run it out of my house and was expanding, so I’ve had my eye on this place for a while,” she said of the storefront at 50A Front Street South.

“Front Street has so much foot traffic, and it’s historic. Barby introduced me to this place,” Reid added, referring to Barby Collins, owner of the Rock & Roll Hair Salon, located a few doors down from her new shop.

Billed as “The one and only beach-themed beauty salon in the Niagara region,” Making Waves will offer lash extensions, lash lifts, brow tinting, threading for brow and facial hair, laser hair removal, and microdermabrasion skin care treatment, which includes deep exfoliating to reduce fine lines and dark spots.

“It removes the top dead layer of the skin,” Reid explained, and in addition to rejuvenating skin, it can help reduce acne.

The client lies down while Reid administers the laser treatment, which is “completely painless,” she stated.

Depending on the application, it takes from three minutes for an upper lip treatment to 30 minutes for other types of hair removal.

Classic lash extension courses will also be taught to those wishing to learn the skill.

Currently, Reid will serve clients by appointment but plans to open from Monday through Saturday in the near future.

She can be contacted by calling or texting 289-501-5481, or email Marysa.
