Ten thousand ducks will drop over Port Dalhousie this Father’s Day, when the Kiwanis Club of St. Catharines hosts its 22nd Annual Kiwanis Duck Race.

Everyone who purchases a $5 duck race ticket is eligible to win a $10,000 first prize jackpot, along with 10 other chances to win amounts ranging from $1,000 to $500, depending on which ducks cross the finish line first.

Kiwanis members are getting their ducks ducks in a row to return to Port Dalhousie on Father’s Day on Sunday, June 16. Festivities will kick off at 11 a.m. with the race scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

The yearly race is an important fundraiser to help with projects in the community, said President Bob Romeo.

“One hundred per cent of the net proceeds from every ticket get re-invested back into the community to support kids and their families,” he added.

“Over the years the Kiwanis Club of St. Catharines projects have included the Kiwanis Shelter and the all-access Infinity Play Place and Splash pad at Pearson Park, The Niagara Health System St. Catharines site, Seymour Hannah 4-pad arena, Kiwanis Field, Goodwill Community Building and the St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre.

Duck race tickets are available at Goodwill Niagara and Avondale stores or by contacting any member of the Kiwanis Club of St. Catharines including Past President Rick Westlake at the Bocchinfuso Funeral Home in Thorold, 905-227-0161 or [email protected].
