Happy Canada Day, Thorold

Canada Day activities get underway at noon today in the Battle of Beaverdams Park

Last night music fans were treated to a towering finale they will remember forever.

In one of those rare moments when everything about a performance is elevated beyond expectations, JP Soars and the Red Hots were joined on the stage by Brandon Santini and Paul DesLauriers. Added to the excitement was the combined drumming efforts of two of the very best, Chris Peet of the Red Hots and Sam Harrison of the Paul DesLauriers Band.

Individually, the musicians exude unsurpassed joy and passion for their music in every performance, but when their energies collided last night, fans were treated to an epic finish to a fabulous day of music at the Battle of Beaverdams Park.

Earlier in the day Fat Bottom Daddy, featuring Thorold's own Paul  Muelli, provided Thorold fans with a performance of classic rock and a heavy dose of nostalgia as the popular Muelli has not appeared in these parts often in recent years.

Next, the Andre Bisson six-piece band from Hamilton wowed the audience with a stellar performance including a wide range of fan favourite blues and rock classics.

Then, Brandon Santini from North Carolina made his first appearance in Thorold. His powerful performance was embraced by exuberant blues fans and his return is guaranteed in the future.

Today, day four of Rock N Blues on the Battlefield continues with an evening performance by local favourite classic rock bands Veranda Beach and Vinyl Flux.

Canada Day activities for the whole family officially begin at noon in the park with opening ceremonies. The finale will be fireworks at 10:15 p.m..
