Thorold Community Theatre takes the "community" part of its title seriously, and proved it in a unanimous vote to support Community Care through a generous donation.

Marilyn Colbert, treasurer with the Theatre group said the motion to donate $1,000 was met with complete agreement among the volunteer group, and yesterday afternoon she presented a cheque to Maxine Hutchings of Community Care.

“We’ve always been supporters of Community Care and have food donation bins at every performance,” she said, “they are close to our heart.”

The feeling of respect is mutual as Hutchings welcomed the cheque and said, “Not only does Thorold Community Theatre support us, they also put on great performances.”

She pointed out that “Donations have been up over the past few weeks as we approach Christmas, but the number of clients is also up.”

Noting the Christmas spirit is evident at the food bank, Hutchings recounted, “It’s inspiring when we see individuals who need our help but they tell us to save it for the families.”

Colbert and Hutchings invited Mayor Terry Ugulini to the presentation as he is a big supporter of both groups.
