Apple pies can be pre-ordered now, to avoid selling out, like last year

The Friends of Beaverdams will be showing off the iconic church’s brand new siding and doors during their annual Applefest celebration on Oct. 5.

According to Friends president David Cowan, “This step in the restoration process promises to provide a spectacular transformation in the exterior appearance of this historic building.”

Paul Damude of The Apple Spot will share a brief presentation about apple farming, and young artists from the Kiwanis Music Festival of the Stars will perform at the event, which kicks off at 1:30 p.m. that Saturday.

Following the music, the annual Apple Pie Social will feature freshly baked apple pies, which will also be available for sale, along with a selection of local apples.

“We recommend that you pre-order your pies,” advised Cowan, “as we sold out last year.”

Pies cost $15, and are now available in three varieties:  crumble top, two-crust, and low sugar.

Tickets for what Cowan calls “this important fundraising event” cost $10 for adults and $5 for children, available in advance.

Attendees are asked to RSVP by Sept. 15, by emailing: [email protected], or by calling Donna at 905-227-7556.

Cheques for both tickets and pies may be made payable to The Friends of Beaverdams Church, and mailed by Sept. 15 to: 0 Marlatts Road, P.O. Box 70, Thorold, ON L2V 4H2
