TORONTO – Sean Masecar of St. Catharines is $100,000 richer after winning with Instant Silverstacks (Game #2151).
A 26-year-old hospitality worker, Sean decided on an impulse to buy this ticket. In fact, this ticket was the first he bought in several months. He discovered his win while at a retailer.
“I was feeling kind of cranky, so I bought myself a ticket,” he shared, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his cheque. “When I used the ticket checker, I saw the ‘Big Winner’ message.”
Sean’s bad mood turned great when he realized he had a winner.
“I checked the ticket again, and then waited in line to tell the cashier that the ticket checker was broken,” he laughed. “I asked him to scan my ticket and tell me how much I won – then the terminal froze!”
Sean plans to be ‘incredibly boring’ with his winnings. He will set some money aside for himself to use now, but ultimately wants to save for his retirement. He’ll also take the time to invest in some self-care.
“I was feeling so many emotions – excitement, happiness and disbelief!” he concluded.
OLG is now accepting in-person prize claims by-appointment only for customers with prizes of $1,000 or more who wish to claim at the OLG Prize Centre. To best protect customers and staff, OLG has put in place appropriate health and safety protocols in accordance with guidelines from public health officials, which include physical distancing measures, the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the pre-screening of visitors before granting entry.
