As two days of strike action is set to commence in Niagara, more days off school is on the horizon for public elementary students of DSBN.
On February 6 and 7, all DSBN elementary schools will close as teachers walk off the job.
The week after, Tuesday February 11 and 12, DSBN elementary schools will also be closed in case a tentative agreement between the province and teachers' union is not reached.
Kim Yielding, spokesperson for DSBN says the board remains hopeful that the parties will come to an agreement soon.
"We are working with students and parents", she said.
The board says they have not heard from many parents as result of the strikes, and that no changes to the curriculum are anticipated.
The union told reporters on Tuesday that the negotiations with the government fell through shortly after resuming before the weekend, after the government tabled "impossibe options".
This after the parties, according to the union, were close to an agreement on "three or four key issues".
