Downtown music festival ready for day two

Day two of Rock 'N Blues on the Battlefield begins at 2:30 today

Thorold's four-day festival – Rock 'N Blues on the Battlefield – continues today with music getting underway at 2:30 p.m.

Today's lineup includes a good mix of classic rock and contemporary smoking hot blues rock.

Figure Four, a talented local rock band, takes the stage at 2:30 p.m in the Battle of Beaverdams Park, located at the corner of Sullivan Avenue and Front Street. The band is comprised of St. Catharines and Thorold members.

They are local fan favourites, known for their spontaneous shows tailor-made to the crowd through their versatility and incredible catalogue of covers.

Next up will be the renowned Steely Dan cover band, Pretzel Logic.

The 10-piece band from Toronto is famous for their covers of the eclectic, demanding music of Steely Dan. It's no easy task to emulate some of the most complex rock music ever recorded, but Pretzel Logic are masters at the task. They take the stage at 5 p.m.

The headliner for the night is the Paul DesLauriers Band from Montreal. No strangers to Thorold, they have packed the halls and thrilled the crowds with original rocking blues. Winners of many individual and band awards, they have represented Canada well on their tours.

This appearance comes at the end of a tour to Germany, Switzerland and the U.S.

And if there's any doubt about their rock capabilities, later in the fall, the Paul DesLauriers will play Palais Montcalm in Quebec City to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Deep Purple’s Concerto for Group and Orchestra with Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden.
