Construction on the new International Plaza and Civic Park at Niagara Region headquarters has begun.

After competitive pre-qualification and subsequent bidding process, Region staff awarded the contract on March 21 to Rankin Construction Inc. of St. Catharines. They will lead construction on the project.

Construction is scheduled throughout the spring and summer, with the park expected to open in early fall. During this time, the Region will keep residents and stakeholders informed of any updates or potential disruptions through our website and social media channels.

When complete, Niagara Region’s administrative campus will be transformed into a more modern, inclusive and pedestrian friendly space.

The International Plaza and Civic Park project contains six key elements, including the Orchard Plaza, Front Lawn, International Plaza, Courtyard, Gardens of the Municipalities, and Pollinator Gardens. The project will also contribute to the completion of a vital multi-use pathway which connects the Brock District to the surrounding municipalities.

The International Plaza and Civic Park will be redesigned as a public space for year-round gatherings, festivals, events and performances for residents, students and visitors to the Brock District.

This initiative builds on the Council-endorsed Brock District Plan, Niagara Regional Headquarters Campus Master Plan and other supporting documents, and sets out to completely reimagine the existing area surrounding Niagara’s administrative headquarters into a more inclusive and pedestrian friendly space.
