Community Care recognized for 100 years of service

Recognized in the House of Commons, Community Care received official tribute in Thorold yesterday

Earlier this year, Niagara Centre MP Vance Badawey stood in the House of Commons to recognize St. Catharines and Thorold Community Care to recognize the agency for 100 years of service to the community.

Yesterday, Badawey was in Thorold to present a framed Canada medal and certificate to Betty-Lou Souter, executive director, and staff of Community Care.

In making the presentation, Badawey said, "We’re blessed because we have mechanisms, regardless of what we do on a daily basis, to ensure we put into action the resources we have available to help those in need.”

He added, “Don’t ever underestimate the influence you have on others. It can be small or it can be big, but make sure that it’s positive.”

Souter replied to the MP, saying, "Thank you for your support. When you have someone who will listen to you, who is an elected official, it can make all the difference in the world because without the political will we’re not going to be able to make change. You’re always there for us and it makes a huge difference."

The certificate reads:

"Recognizing your contributions to providing vital services and programs to individuals and families in the community. You have demonstrated the heights of excellence and have maintained a high standard of performance ensuring a healthy, caring community where everyone lives with dignity and purpose.

This award serves as recognition for your outstanding dedication and service to the community as a leader in human services.
