Families of residents of Cobblestone Retirement Residence were treated to the facility’s annual barbecue Friday night, featuring a free outdoor feast and live music in the courtyard.
Each year, Cobblestone staff chooses a charity to support, and proceeds from beverages bought at this year’s event were donated to Youth Resources Limited.
“We feel it’s very important to help the youth in our community,” said Cobblestone Administrator Jeannie Redekop. “Many don’t have this type of event to share with a loving family. Whether with programs or helping them with school, we are happy to support them.”
Youth Resources Limited volunteers helped out at the event and Director April Crumb was in attendance to accept the donation.
The Fonthill-based organization provides rehabilitative and supportive programs, as well as mentors, systems, and safe protective environments that facilitate personal growth, change, accountability and responsibility for youth with their families and communities.
