The Thorold Anchors held a lead at the end of the first inning last night in Niagara District Senior Men's baseball.

But the meeting at McMillan Park was all downhill for the Anchors after that. The Welland Chiefs scored a resounding 14-2 win, dropping Thorold's record to 0 and 3.

Scott Cole had 3 RBIs for Welland while Russ McKeown had both RBIs for Thorold.

Zak Fernandez and Ty Goss each crossed the plate three times to lead the Chiefs. Goss was three-for-three with two hits and a walk.

Ryan Dailey and Dan Boekestyn each scored for Thorold.

Matt Wintermute was the winning pitcher for Welland.

The next home game for the Anchors is set for June 10 at McMillan Park against the St. Catharines Cobras. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
