Charges laid in Thorold collision

Name of the driver was not released

Twelve days after the incident, Niagara Regional Police have issued a statement on an accident that occurred at the corner of Front and Clairmont Streets.

 

A pickup truck collided with two elderly pedestrians, sending them to hospital.

 

The statement from the NRP reads as follows:

At approximately 6:35 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019, 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers were called to the area of Front St. and Clairmont St. in the City of Thorold following the report of a collision.
 
A 77-year-old female and 77-year-old male were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle, a 58-year-old Thorold male, was charged under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act with Turn not in Safety.
 
As the charges were laid under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act and not the Criminal Code, as per our practice, we do not identify the person charged.
