The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario is looking for public input after an application came in to open a cannabis shop in Thorold.

According to the commission's directory, Grand Cannabis wants to open a retail location at 207 Keefer Road, neighboring Cracker Jack's and Circle K.

The application is currently put on public notice to seek input from residents on the plans.

Residents wanting to voice their opinion have until October 31 to do so.

ThoroldNews was unable to reach representatives for Grand Cannabis for comment.

It is the second time this year that a business applies to open a retail space for legal cannabis in Thorold.

This summer, Takeoff Cannabis revealed its plans for the first retail location within city limits.

The store is expected to open sometime in November.

The legal pot market grossed $1.2 billion dollars in Canada during its first full calendar year, 2019.
