Now that Niagara is firmly in winter’s cold grip, it’s the ideal time to begin to boost your business this summer.

This week, Niagara Centre MP Vance Badawey invites employers to join Service Canada representatives to learn more about the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) application process.

Through the CSJ program, employers may receive funding to hire a young Canadian between the ages of 15 and 30.

The application period for the CSJ program is now open, and two information sessions for employers will be held this Friday, Jan. 18: one at the Thorold Community Activities Group, located at 131 Richmond Street, Thorold, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, and a second at Welland City Hall, 60 East Main Street, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Canada’s prosperity depends on young people getting the education and experience they need to successfully start their careers, Badawey said, in a press release. The CSJ program is a great way for youth to gain skills and valuable experience, and help employers and organizations address their staffing needs during busy summer months.

“I encourage you to take advantage of the program, and apply for funding by Jan. 25, 2019.”

“By participating in Canada Summer Jobs, you are helping young people in your area gain the skills and confidence needed for a bright future. The CSJ program not only helps employers create valuable summer job opportunities; it strengthens local economies and communities across Canada.”

Staff will be available at the info sessions and representatives will answer questions at the end.
