NIAGARA REGION
*************************
Beginning June 1, 2019, all business licensing functions will be transferred from the Niagara Regional Police Service to Niagara Region. The collection of licence applications and fees, the issuance or denial of licences, and enforcement of the various bylaws and inspections will now be undertaken by Niagara Region’s Business Licensing section.

Niagara Region will soon have authority to pass bylaws to licence, regulate and govern various businesses and occupations. This includes taxis, transportation network companies (rideshares), tow trucks, auto wreckers, salvage yards and second-hand goods stores.

The Region also has been given delegated authority to regulate and govern the adult entertainment industry in St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Thorold, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Welland and Fort Erie and the body rub industry in St. Catharines and Niagara Falls.

A new Niagara Region business licensing office will be located on the second floor of 5853 Peer St., in Niagara Falls. This location will open starting June 4 and operate 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday to Friday, or by appointment.

The Niagara Region business licensing office may be contacted by telephone at 905-980-6000 ext. 6380 or by email at [email protected].

There will be no licence processing on Monday, June 3 at the new location. Please ensure licences expiring June 1 to 3 are renewed before 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019 with the Niagara Regional Police Business Licensing Branch.

The Region will also conduct a full process review, including community consultation, to identify opportunities for improvement in customer services, licensing and enforcement processes.
