Borelli unlashes Thorold’s newest business

Lux Lash hosts grand opening on Pine Street South

If you long for lusher lashes, help is only a blink away.

“I offer eyelash extensions that range from natural to dramatic looks, as well as eyebrow waxing and tinting,” owner Micaela Borelli told the Thorold News.

Hosting a ribbon-cutting at the grand opening of her business, Lux Lash, last Friday, “This is something that’s taken me a few years to get rolling, but I’m so excited to offer these services to the Niagara region,” she stated.

“I supply premium supplies to the public and others in the industry; shipping out product nationally. I also offer one-on-one private training and small group training for those looking to learn the skill of eyelash extensions and leap into the industry.”

A native of Thorold, Borelli said she’s been “doing lashes for a few years. I moved to Ottawa for a while and decided to bring it back home to Thorold.”

Borelli’s business is just one example of how Thorold—and Niagara—have transitioned in recent years from heavy industry to small businesses, said Vance Badawey.

“When we see the community coming together for a grand opening, it’s more than just a sign on a door; it’s about community,” added the Niagara Centre MP, presenting her with a certificate from the federal government, congratulating her on her “exciting new venture.”

“Small entrepreneurship is the heart of the community,” agreed regional councillor Tim Whalen.

“We’re looking forward to a great, long relationship in Thorold, which is the heart of Niagara.”

“Thorold is growing at a tremendous rate, and a big part of that will be the business to support the residential” growth, said Mayor Terry Ugulini.

“We’re not just here to cut the ribbon today; we’re here to support you, and help you be successful,” he added, handing her a congratulatory plaque on behalf of city council.

Located in a serene, spa-like setting at 108 Pine St. South, on the corner of Richmond and Pine Streets, Lux Lash will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

For now, Borelli will accept walk-ins but she said appointments are always recommended, due to a busy schedule.
