Annual Daffodil Tea springing up at Trinity United Church

For the 59th year, Thoroldites are invited to usher in the spring season by sharing coffee, tea and treats with friends, while helping support cancer patients.

Each year the event rotates among Thorold churches, with this year’s annual Daffodil Tea being hosted by Trinity United Church at 15 Pine Street South, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24.

Along with hot beverages, sandwiches, squares and cookies will be provided, as well as a table offering homemade baked goods for sale.

There will be a draw with chances to win a beautiful handmade quilt, and participants can sit back and relax to live music performed by Eddie Pizzo, Walter Ostanek and friends, surrounded by flowers arranged by the Thorold Garden Club.

All refreshments will be served free of charge, but the Niagara Health Foundation will be in attendance, say organizers, to accept donations for the Walker Family Cancer Centre. Tax receipts will be issued for contributions of $20 or more.

Carrying on the tradition, tea will be poured by Mayor Terry Ugulini, Rev. Jim McKnight, Rev. Ken McQuarrie, Father Michael Basque, and other Thorold leaders.

Participating churches include Trinity United, Holy Rosary Roman Catholic, St. John’s Anglican, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian, Village Church, Living Water Church, and the Latina Lodge.
